I’m Alissa Witt, a Marriage and Family Therapy Candidate who works with couples, individuals, and adult families. I take a humanistic and experiential approach, grounded in the belief that my clients are the experts of their own lives. Still, even experts can feel stuck—whether due to societal pressures, early life experiences, trauma, or broader systemic challenges. My role is to walk alongside my clients in whatever way is most supportive: sometimes lighting the path, sometimes offering direction, and sometimes pausing with them to take in the view. I strive to meet each person where they are, whether that means guiding the journey, holding space as a witness, or stepping back when they’re ready to lead.

My goal is ultimately to empower my clients with the feeling of safety to explore and self assurance based on their own wisdom and experience. I know what it feels like to be afraid of taking the next step in life. My own transformative experiences in therapy motivated me to start this work. I have a passion for using therapy to lift the disenfranchised, the unheard, the marginalized, people who feel they have no place, and those who just feel lost.

In my work with clients, I ask them to share a lot about themselves. Knowing this is a challenge, I want to share a bit about myself as well. As embarrassing as it is to admit, I am a walking cliche! I enjoy reading, taking walks, being outside, spending time with my partner, family, and friends, and most importantly, my cats! (if you ever want to see a picture of them please ask)! I also have a guilty pleasure of watching reality tv shows—can I get a woot woot from my Jersey Shore fans?

No matter where you are starting or where you want to go, I am excited to be along for the ride and I hope that I can be a meaningful part of your voyage toward betterment and self improvement.
