Heather WarrenProfessional Counseling Intern

Hi, my name is Heather! I grew up in Virginia, where I earned my bachelor's degree in psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University. I spent most of the first part of my career working with children and their families in the education field. Currently, I am studying clinical mental health at the University of the Cumberlands and am excited to work with you as I finish earning my master's degree. As a student, my internship at CRS is a chance to keep learning and growing in the field I am passionate about. In my own life, I have found therapy to be an imperative part of my healing journey and am excited to start with you on yours!

My counseling approach is person-centered and trauma-informed. I strive to collaborate with each person I work with so they feel genuinely heard and understood. I believe exploring our past can help us understand why we function the way we do and bring light to our vulnerabilities, ultimately enabling healing and personal growth. Life inevitably serves up unexpected traumas and difficulties that can cause us to lose our connection to our true selves. You deserve the life you want- counseling can help you get there!

Outside of counseling and my coursework, I enjoy reading, hiking, cooking, practicing yoga, and drawing. These activities help me stay grounded and creative, and I often find they connect back to the work I do with clients. I look forward to working with you!
