Susan FaltinsonLCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Appointment Type: Telehealth - Colorado

I got my start in human services over 35 years ago as I earned a master’s degree in social work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. My passion for working with people has taken me through a number of pursuits, including working as a camp director, vocational rehabilitation counselor, college professor, sign language interpreter, and as a therapist. In 2020 I completed a post-graduate Marriage and Family Therapy specialty certificate from Regis University.
As a therapist, I have a strength-based lens in my approach. In my work with clients, I listen on a variety of levels, discovering connections and areas that benefit from further exploration. I draw from many years of life experience in a number of realms, andI find that those experiences can help with understanding a variety of life challenges . My approach is eclectic, drawing on systems theory, cognitive-behavioral strategies, symbolic experiential theory, and Gottman Couple Therapy.
I have extensive experience in medical environments and thus am particularly equipped to work with individuals and their loved ones who are experiencing serious medical challenges and transitions such as cancer, debilitating pain, Alzheimer’s, MS, traumatic accidents, and other chronic or life-threatening conditions.
With my training and experience working as a nationally certified sign language interpreter, I am able to communicate directly with Deaf and hard of hearing clients who use American Sign Language to communicate. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, families, and seniors in working through a variety of relationships, transitions, and life challenges.
My husband of 37 years and I have two grown children and enjoy the outdoors, traveling, and training for 10k races together. One of my favorite quotes is by Ram Dass: “We are all just walking each other home.” I would be honored to walk alongside you as you navigate life’s challenges and opportunities for growth.
